Hi everyone! It’s Analiese, CampMinder’s VP of Talent & Culture, here with some exciting news: Inc. Magazine has named CampMinder a Best Workplace for 2019!
If you know anything about CampMinder, you know employee engagement is our number one priority, so being recognized as a top workplace to work means a lot to us. This particular award recognizes businesses that value company culture, offer exceptional benefits, and prioritize employee well-being – and we were selected out of thousands of eligible companies.
I have to admit, I did a little happy dance when I opened the email from Inc. informing us that we’d won. The next thing I did was tell Dan, our founder and CEO.
Dan has watched CampMinder grow organically over the past 18 years from a one-person operation to a thriving, 60-person organization. Since Day 1, he’s been focused on making CampMinder a great place to work. Why? He explains it like this:
“We are nothing without our employees, so we intentionally cultivate a workplace that attracts and develops great people. We’ve created a culture where people are engaged in meaningful work, alongside others who share their values and sense of purpose. This is our true differentiator and what’s underneath our exceptional service and product.”
I wanted to hear directly from our team members why they love working here, so I asked a few of them to share their thoughts.
Ethan Greenberg, one of our QA Specialists, is approaching his sixth year of service at CampMinder. “We’re driven to help camp directors provide the best possible experience for children all over the world,” he said. “Seeing this impact creates a deep sense of fulfillment for everyone who works here.”
Hannah Parris, Client Services Specialist, added, “At CampMinder, every person is valued for what they bring to the table. Employees are very supported here, which can be seen in the flexible scheduling and time off that allows all of us – including parents, like me – to contribute and thrive.”
Hannah’s comment highlights some of the benefits we’ve added in recent years, like the expansion of our paid parental leave program and the implementation of “Trust-Based PTO.” Rather than place a hard limit on time off, we keep our focus on our objectives and employee health. We trust team members and their managers to make wise decisions that balance individuals’ and the company’s needs in a way that’s aligned with our values.
With all the effort we put into employee engagement, it’s truly thrilling to see national publications take note. As you might have heard, Outside Magazine named us one of America’s Best Places to Work in both 2017 and 2018. In 2018, we were also recognized as a Colorado Company to Watch, a statewide program recognizing companies that are developing valuable products and services, creating quality jobs, enriching communities, and contributing to the state’s economic growth.
I announced the Inc. award to our team members at a recent all-company outing, saying “Each one of you should feel proud of the role you play in making CampMinder a great place to work.” It’s true; everyone on our team takes responsibility for creating the culture here, from the Software Engineer organizing our first-ever CampMinder talent show (thanks Elliot!) to our Client Services Manager modeling vulnerability and transparency with her team every day (you rock Amber!) to our Talent Operations Specialist pouring her passion for nature into creating sustainability initiatives for camps (Carly, you’re simply amazing), and the Product Manager rallying his team to volunteer at a local food bank (thank you Ryan!). There are too many examples to name here, but the point is that building a great workplace isn’t the work of one person; it’s the product of thousands of actions and decisions that, collectively, say, we care. About each other, about our clients, and about carving out a small slice of meaning and joy in this crazy world.
I, for one, am profoundly grateful to be part of it.
Thanks for reading and for being part of our community.
